Your first visit includes a comprehensive examination to include: Complete medical and dental history; Clinical examination of the mouth; and Full mouth x-rays taken to aid in accurate diagnosis.
This will be followed by a thorough discussion with Dr. Gary Kitzis about of your Dental Goals including Cosmetic, Periodontal and/or Dental Implant treatment options.
The most common services we perform are
Oral Examination
Oral examinations for new patients include an evaluation of the teeth, gums, soft tissue structures in the mouth; tongue; cheeks; lips; salivary glands; and an evaluation of the bite and temporomandibular (jaw) joints. We will also go over your medical history and previous dental treatments.
Cancer Screening
Cancer can develop in several places in the mouth, including the tongue, salivary glands, throat, gums and face.
X-Rays
We use digital x-rays. Dental radiographs or x-rays are an important part of the examination. They allow us to visualize the structure of the jaw, the position of the teeth, the bone levels supporting the teeth and the presence of decay.
Prophylaxis
A dental prophylaxis is the cleaning of the teeth and gums. Plaque and calculus (tartar) deposits are removed above and below the gum line. This is an important step in maintaining a healthy mouth and preventing the progression of gingivitis and periodontal disease. A prophylaxis will also give you a healthy looking smile and fresh breath.
